Mr. Lighthouse Red, Right, Returning to Remember

Recently, Bob Trapani, executive director of the American Lighthouse Foundation, has shared his remembrance of Ken Black who was affectionately called Mr. Lighthouse.

Ken Black was the founding father of the Lighthouse Preservation in the United States. Ken’s vision and passion for preserving Lighthouses began when he served as a Chief Warrant Officer in the Coast Guard 35 years ago! Mr. Lighthouse opened the Shore Village Museum in Rockland, Maine to display the Lighthouse artifacts he collected. In 2005, his Lighthouse artifacts were transferred to the Maine Lighthouse Museum which includes the CWO Kenneth Black Exhibition Hall dedicated to Mr. Lighthouse.
